Hillbilly Dreadnought is the musical project of Nebraska songwriter and storyteller Robert Paup.
Blending traditional country roots, Americana, life lessons, fishing tales, blue-collar life, and a healthy appreciation for "wink and nod" kind of joke.
Just real stories, real music, and a little bit of mischief along the way.
So grab a cold drink of your choice, pull up a chair, and stay awhile.
The stories are just getting started.
Drawing inspiration from legends like Jerry Reed, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash , and the great storytellers of country music, pop, rock and folk music.
Hillbilly Dreadnought isn't about chasing trends—it's about telling honest stories.
Some will make you laugh, some might make you think, and a few may hit closer to home than expected.
From songs about fishing, family, growing up poor, geting older, and life's hard-earned lessons.
Hillbilly Dreadnought celebrates the people who still believe a handshake means something and that every good story deserves to be told.
A Few Things We Believe:
Faith, Family, and Friends are the true riches in this life.
Good music tells a story, even if the story is sad.
Every dog deserves the best life possible.
The truth is usually stranger than fiction.

Why Hillbilly Dreadnought?
I firmly believe there is a difference between a Hillbilly and a Redneck.
In my eyes, a Hillbilly is typically poor and has to make do and live the way they do out of necessity.
A Redneck, in a lot of cases, chooses that life—more from preference or circumstance than necessity.
I identify as a HILLBILLY, and I am damn proud of it.
A Dreadnought is a heavily armored ship that often takes far more punishment than it should, yet refuses to quit even when logic says it should have sunk long ago.
In many ways, that's my story.
Life has thrown its share of storms, setbacks, and battles my way, but like a Dreadnought, I keep moving forward even when I want to quit.
Hillbilly Dreadnought is more than a band name.
It's a statement, a declaration of who I am as well as a reminder that where you come from doesn't determine where you're going, and that strength isn't measured by how many times you get knocked down—it's measured by how many times you get back up.
